January 16, the company holds its 2002 AGM in Jinan. Shandong Airlines received the Ankang Cup for 2002 operational safety from the Shandong Provincial Federation of Trade Unions and the Production Safety Supervision Authority.
January 23, at the 2003 Annual National Civil Aviation Conference, CAAC chief Yang Yuanyuan presented the 2002 Jinying Cup to Shandong Airlines. This is the second time our company has received the top national safety award for civil aviation safety.
March 20, the document regarding increased passenger and cargo operations to neighbouring countries was approved by the CAAC, giving rise to the first international air routes of Shandong Airlines. The addition of flight routes laid the foundation for the expansion of Shandong Airlines for the years to come.
April 15, in light of the SARS crisis, Shandong Aviation Group created a SARS Prevention Work Group, with the company’s top executives heading the group. It aimed to minimize the effects of SARS on the company. The focus of this group was to ensure safety and SARS prevention at primary contact points. Overnight facilities were opened in Jinan, Qingdao, Beijing, and Yantai, with staff performing flight interior cleaning and preparing medicine and first-aid kits for the flight crew, as well as a large number of anti-infections face masks in emergency situations. Check-in lines were extended backwards to ensure passenger safety and the proper operation of flights. The results were positive.
June 5, in a decision from the Shandong provincial party committee department of propaganda, the Shandong provincial party committee department of organization, Shandong Provincial Economic and Trade Commission, the Shandong Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, Shandong Airlines was granted the title of a Shandong Outstanding Cultural Enterprise Company, as recognition to the airline’s achievements.
June 25, the Shandong Provincial party committee awards Shandong Airlines’ Second Party Branch of Qingdao the title of Outstanding Grassroots Party Organization, with several employees receiving personal honours: Yang Qingzhen as Outstanding In Party Affairs Work, Cao Hui (Flight Team 1) and Wang Qiang (Flight Mechanics Dept.) as Outstanding Party Members.
July 10, the company’s party committee awarded thirty individuals with the Outstanding Work In The Prevention Of SARS award. In the long and arduous fight against SARS, the airline continually supported an unrelenting approach to both SARS prevention and passenger safety. Shandong Airlines was crucial in winning the first stage of nationwide battle against SARS. Especially outstanding were the employees at the primary contact points. In this long and protruded war against an unnatural agent, our staff displayed their highly civilized sense of political responsibility; they were daring and brave and took an extremely heavy load on their shoulders at the expense of their own personal safety. They are representative of modern-day heroism and altruism.
July 26, 6:30PM, the first Boeing 737-300 model aircraft of Shandong Airlines takes off from Jinan International Airport, destined for Macao International Airport. Li Junhai, CEO of Shandong Airlines Co., Ltd. and Deng Jun, CEO of Macao International Airport Authority, spoke at the maiden voyage ceremony.
October 15, the National Association of Quality Control releases the 2003 Project Report on Business, Product, and Construction Customer Satisfaction (China Quality Code [2003]-15. Shandong Airline’s Hospitality services received the 2003 Nationwide Customer Satisfaction Award. And Shandong Airlines has received this honour for four years.
November 24 – in the afternoon, the opening ceremony of first joint-venture flight school in China is held in the Training Centre in Qingdao. Representatives from Shandong Airlines Training Co., Weifang Jinmingxin Aviation Training Centre, and IATA of U.S.A attended the ceremony and signed the three-way agreement.
December 25, the Shandong Provincial Federation of Trade Unions and the Shandong Provincial Quality Control Department held a function to recognize our company’s 2003 Ankang Cup award. And our company has received this award for two years.
December 26, the water rescue team of the Beihai Flight Team of the national Department of Transport foundation ceremony was held at Penglai Airport. Jia Fuwen, CEO of Shandong Aviation Group, Bai Weisan, Deputy General Manager of Shandong Airlines Co., Ltd. and Chairman of Rainbow Executive Air Co., as well as representatives from the Department of Transport, the Air Force, Navy, Eastern China Department of the CAAC, and the municipal government of Penglai attended the ceremony. This was a new project undertaken by Rainbow Executive Air Co., following another project involving marine geophysical flight.
