 | January 8, in the afternoon, the celebration for ten years of safe flight is held at the club banquet hall in Jinan’s Nanjiao Hotel. Yang Yuanyuan, head of the CAAC, provincial Party Secretary and provincial People’s Congress Chairman Zhang Gaoli, provincial Deputy Party Secretary and Governor Han Yuqun, General Manager of Air China Group and Air China Chairman Li Jiaxiang, provincial party committee member and secretary Yang Chuansheng, Jinan Military Region Air Force Deputy Commander Feng Jingquan, provincial People’s Congress Vice-Chair Mo Zhenkui, Vice-Governor Zhao Kezhi, CAAC Eastern China Department head Xia Xinghua, as well as some 600 representatives and cadres from the Air Force, Navy, the civil aviation industry, provincial and municipal level financial institutions, China Customs and other organizations attended the event. |  | January 18, Shandong Aviation Group held its 2004 work review conference and worker’s congress. The Qingdao subsidiary and the Yantai centre both held simultaneous broadcasts of the conference through video streaming, allowing many employees to watch the events live. |  | January 18, under the directives from the Central Committee and the provincial Party Committee, the company’s party committee decided that beginning in late June, party members inside the company’s organization would begin organized study in the implementation the important thought of Three Represents to keep party members up-to-date with current policies. |  | June 3, Shandong Airlines successfully passed the IATA Operational Safety Audit. This put Shandong Airlines on equal footing with international standards. The IOSA Operational Safety Audit is an internationally recognized safety inspection with high standards; currently there are a relatively small number of companies who have actually passed this audit. Since its foundation in 1994 to the date of the audit, Shandong Airlines did not experience a single accident. Beginning in late October last year, Shandong Airlines began its operational safety audit work, and passed with zero categories below regulation standards. |  | June 22, the first all-new Boeing 737-800 Aircraft on order by Shandong Airlines is flown into Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport from Seattle. This represented a new beginning for the airline. Henceforth, Shandong Airlines has officially passed the IATA Operational Safety Audit and has become a registered member of the IOSA. This meant that Shandong Airlines Co., Ltd. has reached the pinnacle and the most authoritative of international safety standards. |  | July 25, Shandong Airlines’ first order of the all-new Boeing 737-700 model aircraft lands at Qingdao Liuting International Airport. Since the order purchase of the first Boeing 737-800 aircraft on June 22, this is the second third-generation 737-series aircraft on order from the company. When the aircraft is put into operation it will operate from Jinan and Qingdao to various other urban centres in China. Secretary Li and Chairman Bai of Holdings Company, as well as numerous representatives from commerce, customs, trade, border patrol, and inspection agencies attended the arrival ceremony. |  | October 11-15, CAAC held three conferences at Shandong Airlines headquarters. These included Discussions on the Defrosting and Avoidance of Ice on Aircraft, the Second Amendment of CCAR-121-R2, and a Civil Aviation Safety Forum. |  | CAAC deputy chief Wang Changshun and other leaders from the CAAC, representatives from regulatory agencies of civil agencies from different parts of the country, totally over 150 individuals, representatives from the airport authority and related departments arrived at Shandong Airlines Headquarters. Discussions on the Defrosting and Avoidance of Ice on Aircraft and Large Commercial Airliners Operating Certificate Regulations were the topics. The forum also included discussion between CAAC officials and regional regulatory officials about upcoming work in civil aviation safety. The conference was meaningful for the long-term development of safety standards in Chinese civil aviation. |  | December 19, Shandong Aviation Group holds their leadership conference. Air China Group General Manager Li Jiaxiang and Vice-Governor Zhao Kezhi attended the conference. Provincial Party Committee Organizational Department head Yu Gang and Air China Group VP of Human Resources Li Hui announced decisions on personnel changes from Air China Group and the provincial Party Committee. Sun Yude will become the new President and deputy party chief of Shandong Aviation Group, while Zhang Xingfu is the new Vice-President and party chief. Due to age, Jia Fuwen will no longer act as President, and Li Junhai will no longer act as party chief of the organization. |
