What is an electronic ticket?
An electronic ticket (or e-ticket) is an electronic form of traditional paper air ticket and also exists as a digital record in airline computers. Currently, it is the most advanced form of air ticketing based on modern information technology and realizes the paper-free electronic process including booking, billing and check-in, which brings much convenience to passengers and helps airlines cut costs. Compared with traditional air ticket, e-ticket has obvious advantages.
The advantages of e-ticket lie in: (1) Buy air tickets online and pay the fare with bank cards without going to ticket counter.
(2) Check in at an airport with a valid identity certificate without ticket delivery.
(3) An e-ticket will not get lost or forgotten. All that the traveler is required to present before checking in at Shandong Airlines (SDA) counter and passing security is the valid identity certificate used at the time of e-ticket purchase.
How do I book a SDA e-ticket?
You may log on the Shandong Airlines website (www.shandongair.com.cn) or go to SDA ticket counter or e-ticket agent to buy an SDA e-ticket. In the case of online purchase, log in SDA website and execute operations as required, make online payment and get the ticket; if you go to SDA ticket counter or e-ticket agent for ticket booking, you just present relevant information to booking clerk and pay the fare.
How is the effective period of a passenger ticket?
The effective period of a passenger ticket with special fare is based on the terms and conditions of such ticket. The effective period of passenger tickets of normal fare, one-way, round trip or circular trip, is one (1) year. The validity period of an open date ticket is calculated from zero hour of the day following the date of issue. The validity period of an open date ticket is calculated from zero hour of the day following the date of issue. If none of passenger tickets are used, they will be effective for transportation within one year as from the date of issue.
What shall be done before buying SDA e-ticket online?
(1) You are required to register yourself as an individual user of SDA E-ticket System first.
(2) Read carefully instructions on online e-ticket, booking procedures, matters demanding attention and booking regulations.
(3) A valid identity card is required, such as ID card, passport or military officer card.
(4) Online payment means shall be made available. Currently, bank cards from ICBC (Industrial and Commercial Bank of China), CMB (China Merchants Bank) and CCB (China Construction Bank) are acceptable.
Which flights e-tickets are used for?
You can buy an e-ticket for any seat (if available) of any flight you may find in online e-ticket system. You may go direct to the airport for buying a ticket within 3 hours before the take-off of a flight.
Are there any restrictions on the type of passengers buying e-tickets?
Because special passengers or passengers enjoying special fare (such as VIP travelers, disabled revolutionary veterans, wounded/sick passengers, pregnant women, unaccompanied children and infants) have special procedures to handle or special expenses to pay, online ticketing is not available to them for the time being. They are expected to buy tickets at SDA ticket counter or designated ticket agencies.
How do I know the ticket is booked?
After the payment is made, you may inquiry the status of the order online. Prompt message “ticket issued” means you have bought the ticket. You may phone SDA and verify “order number” to confirm the status of e-ticket.
How do I handle the check-in procedures after completing the online ticketing?
After buying an e-ticket, you are advised to go to the SDA e-ticket check-in counter at the airport of departure 90 hours before the departure time of the flight and get the boarding pass with the valid identity certificate used in online ticketing. Then you may go through security inspection with your valid identity certificate and boarding pass and complete the check-in.
How to conduct online check-in?
A. Log on SDA e-ticket website, you may gain access to online check-line on homepage or the log-on page, enter the number of your certificate and choose the place of departure.
B. Each time you can complete the check-in of one segment only. For the check-in of multiple segments, repeat the operation after completing the check-in of the first segment.
C. Confirm the information on your flight and segment, and read “Online Check-in Service Agreement.”
D. Choose your favorite seat to conduct online check-in. The frequent flyer member is expected to input your card number. Please read carefully the notices on the interface.
E. Then two formats of boarding pass pop up on the page: HTML (webpage format) and PDF. You may choose either one, click for download, save it and have it printed out.
Can an e-ticket be changed?
You may complete the change of e-ticket no later than the scheduled departure time of the flight or go to SDA’s ticket counter; if your flight has to be shifted to a flight not using e-ticket or the cabin class has to be changed, such e-ticket shall be changed into an ordinary paper ticket and then the operation will be made according to the procedures on change of ordinary ticket.
May I transfer SDA e-ticket to other airlines?
SDA e-ticket can be transferred to other airlines. If F, C or Y cabin has to be transferred, the e-ticket shall be changed and the FIM form shall be filled up. Then the operation shall be made according to relevant provisions on change of passenger tickets. Any passenger holding a special-fare ticket shall execute the operation according to limitations specified for such special-fare ticket.
How many e-tickets can I buy at most?
As an individual customer of SDA e-ticket, you can buy at most 9 e-tickets. If you buy child tickets, each child must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or above during air travel.
What are reimbursement vouchers for e-ticket?
Before June 1, 2006, e-ticket reimbursement voucher consists of passenger coupon (T4) and boarding pass; after June 1, 2006, itinerary/receipt of e-ticket for air transportation is used.
How to inquiry my ticketing record?
As a registered user of SDA e-ticketing system, you may log onto the system and click “individual ticketing information record inquiry” to learn your ticket ordering or refunding record.
What else to do after finishing the payment? (ticket issuance)
If everything goes well, the website will receive the feedback from the bank, provided that you do not exit the page of SDA e-ticket website throughout your online payment. After confirming that your money has been paid, you may get a returned e-ticket number (which differs from the website’s own e-ticket numbering. Ticket number corresponds to a specific passenger, while the numbering corresponds to one of your orders). Then you may go through check-in at the airport with your identity certificate. Meanwhile we provide a ready schedule as a reminder for you to download and print. If you inquire your order at “individual ticketing information”, you will find that the status of the order is “Completed (ticket issued).”
How come the website does not give any feedback while the money is transferred out of bank account? (payment error)
This phenomenon is due to Internet. Sometimes the information on successful payment is not fed back to our website, so we are not sure that you have made the payment, while this money has been actually transferred out of your bank account. This is so called “payment error”. In such a case, you may dial 0531-96777 (SDA ticketing hotline) to contact SDA personnel for help. After our employees are convinced that your bank payment has been completed, we will change order status from “pending payment” into “ticket being issued”. Afterwards you may conduct subsequent operations.
What shall I do if I happen to exit the bank payment interface? (or abrupt power failure or Internet interruption)
No matter whether you have made your payment or not, please log on the bank website again to check whether the money has been transferred out of your account. Then you log on SDA e-ticket website to enter “individual ticketing information” to inquire the order for which the payment has been made and ascertain the status: if the money has been transferred out of your bank account, the status of the order will be “Completed (ticket issued)”, which means you need no remedy and your e-ticket has been generated; if the money has been transferred but the status of the order is “Uncompleted (ticket being issued)”: you need to click on the itinerary information of this order in the inquired list and complete the ticket-issuance operation in line with prompt specified in the poppe-up page; if the money has been transferred but the status of the order is “Uncompleted (pending payment)”: that is due to payment error. Please refer to the above instructions on “payment error”, contact SDA service personnel on phone to address this problem; if the money has not been transferred, all you need do is to find this order in “my reservation”, click on itinerary information and redo the payment operation based on prompt message specified in the popped-up page.
How to handle ticket refund?
If you buy an e-ticket as an individual user of SDA e-ticketing system, you may conduct ticket refund online. You shall first log on the system with your registered account and complete online ticket refund according to prompt information. SDA personnel will verify the content of your ticket refund application in accordance with relevant policies, deduct applicable handling charges and remit the refund into the bank account used for ticket payment within 3~7 working days. For the sake of financial safety, we do not make ticket refund in cash for an e-ticket. During this process, you may view your order from time to time and learn the details on the handling of your ticket refund application through “click to view ticket refund details”.
If your e-ticket is bought at SDA’s ticket counter or SDA e-ticket agency, you shall handle ticket refund at the original ticket office with your valid identity certificate used during ticket purchase.
What is forward sale?
(1) Forward sale is a preferential policy for any passenger who has bought tickets online some time in advance.
(2) Applicable passengers: individual passengers who buy tickets online, except those who have already enjoyed our special preferential policies, such as children.
(3) The passenger who benefits from this preferential policy is not entitled to any other preferential policy, and vice versa.
(4) Endorsement, rescheduling or refund shall comply with existing cabin limitations.
(5) Specifications on early bird discount:
An one-way passenger booking 7 (inclusive) ~15 days in advance will enjoy a 5% discount;
An one-way passenger booking 15 (inclusive) days or more in advance will enjoy a 10% discount;
A round-trip passenger booking less than 7 days in advance will enjoy a 5% discount;
A round-trip passenger booking 7 (inclusive) days or more in advance will enjoy a 10% discount.
The fare for preferential cabins is 10%~50% discount from normal fare. The passenger may enjoy a further 5%~10% discount based on preferential cabins with 10%~50% discount.
Other cabins shall be sold on a cabin-specific basis.
(7) We shall adjust the specific quantity of preferential seats according to market situation or choose to terminate this preferential policy.
What is the weight limit for free luggage allowance on weight basis?
In international and regional air routes, free checked luggage allowance of any passenger holding adult ticket or child ticket differs: first class ticket (40kg), business class ticket (30kg) and economy class ticket (20kg). If the luggage exceeds the weight limit, 1.5% of the fare for one-way economy class non-stop ticket shall be paid for each kilogram in excess as overweight luggage charge.
What are the provisions on free luggage allowance for first class and business class passengers on piece concept?
Any first class or business class passenger is entitled to check two pieces free of charge. Each piece of such luggage shall not exceed 32 kg (70 lb) and the sum of the three sides of each piece shall not exceed 158 cm (62 inches).
On piece concept, what are the provisions on the size and quantity of checked luggage for child and infant passengers in economy class cabin?
Each adult or child passenger in economy class cabin is entitled to check two pieces of luggage free of charge. The maximum weight of each piece is 23 kg (50 lb); the sum of the three sides of each piece shall not exceed 158 cm (62 inches), and the total sum of the three sides of two pieces shall not exceed 273 cm (107 inches); an infant paying 10% of an adult’s fare is entitled to check one piece of luggage free of charge, but the weight shall not exceed 10kg. In addition, one folding or portable baby cart may be checked free of charge.
